Layering silkscreens of stacked tiny black circles to create a shadowbox effect, Vasarely toys with our sense of perception. Aligning these circles into the larger formation of squares, one in the foreground on Plexiglas and the other in the background upon paper, these circles appear to warp and bend, constantly creating new forms. This piece retains a great sense of motion, as light and shadow are important factors in the effectiveness of the optics within this work. The circles cast shadows against the white background while combining and diverging to create the illusion of three dimensionality.
