Rufino TAMAYO - La Coqueta from the 90th Anniversary suite

The work from this 90th anniversary suite, were the last prints Tamayo completed, before passing on. They are sublime. The colors are gorgeous, the constructivist lines are elegant, and overall this print is a sublime example of how splendid Tamayo’s print work can be. Very subtle, earthy, and elegant. Prints from this suite are rare, and difficult to find.

The price was just reduced to $3950. This discount will be offered only until the end of April 2025, to celebrate our 25th anniversary. Please inquire for discounts on other works during this sale.

All of the Tamayo printwork from MLA Gallery comes with an unconditional guarantee of authenticity, on the gallery letterhead, and a lifetime trade in policy. In this case, the work is accompanied by the original letter of authenticity from Dyanson, something that is rare. This is signed and numbered 31/110 in pencil (there were also 25 artist's proofs), published by Kyron Ediciones Graficas Limitadas, Mexico City. Done in 1989. The work is unframed, and will be shipped free, within the US. Or for only $150 worldwide, via UPS express. The image is from the catalog. The actual print is nearly identical, as there are only minor variations with Tamayo lithographs.

Excellent prints by Tamayo represent a blue chip investment. They will more than likely appreciate dramatically over time. One of Tamayo’s paintings entitled “Trovador,” which was done in 1945, just set a record for the highest price ever paid at auction, for a Latin American painting, at the Christies sale on May 28th, when it sold for $7,209,000.00.
