Tavik Frantisek Simon ( 1877 -1942 ) was a major Czech etcher, painter and woodcut artist. After studing at the Academy of Fine Art in Prague he had his first one man show in that city in 1905. By 1917 he was a professor of art at the same Academy and later chairman of the influential Hollar Association of Czech Graphic Art. He went on to travel the world and by 1920 he was an established artist with an international reputation. His work shows his love for the French Impressionists and later on Japanese woodblock prints. His delicate use of colors and impressionistic tones gives his work a unique quality , He is truly a master of his art. This original color etching is in very good condition, is hand signed by the artist and is framed.
