Color woodcut and water color on Japan paper, c. 11 x 15 cm (block). 1988/89. Inscribed, signed and titled in pencil.
In 1989, the East Frisian painter and printmaker Bodo Olthoff created a small number of unique colour woodcuts, reworked with watercolour paint, which combined his experiences as a man of the sea and circumnavigator with the experience of the fall of the Berlin Wall in an imaginative way.
However, the present subject, which bears the year 88 on a different coloured copy, seems to have anticipated the Berlin events of 1989.
