Color woodcut and water color on Japan paper, c. 11,3 x 14,8 cm (block). 1988/89. Signed and titled in pencil.
In 1989, the East Frisian painter and printmaker Bodo Olthoff created a small number of unique colour woodcuts, reworked with watercolour paint, which combined his experiences as a man of the sea and circumnavigator with the experience of the fall of the Berlin Wall in an imaginative way.
However, the present subject with the year 88 seems to have anticipated the Berlin events of 1989.
