In a spectacle of color and motion, Nierman creates a stunning yet turbulent abstract landscape. Bursts of flame shoot upwards, relaying a sense of danger and unpredictability. Nierman uses both texture and color to create this dramatic work, full of strong contrasts. He paints warm reds, yellows, and oranges against soothing blues and greens, as if a volcano were erupting with hot lava emerging from cool stone. He applies the paint thickly upon the flame-like formations while creating a smooth surface in the blue areas, also adding a sense of texture to the work.
This original oil on board painting is hand signed by Leonardo Nierman (Mexico City, 1932 - ) in white paint in the lower right.
