The piece was made to benefit the Village Nursing Home (an AIDS and geriatric care facility) in New York. This initiative was initiated by Leo Castelli as a celebration of his gallery’s 35th anniversary.
The title for the work has been given in there literature, including the brochure for the print as “Study for Red Lamp”
Provenance: MBA Graphic Art Collection.
Exhibited: This piece was exhibited between March and May 2007 in the Obra Expuesta en el Ivam Centre Julio Goinzalez, Valencia, Spain. The show was entitled “El Pop en la coleccion grafica de MBA”it consisted of a large group of American Pop Art by Warhol, Haring, Lichtenstein, Pietro Psaier, Ramos, Rauschenburg and Kaufman. There is a large well produced and profusely illustrated catalogue which is sold with our work which is illustrated on page 194
