An early silkscreen poster, of the greatest rarity.
William Kentridge joined the Junction Avenue Theatre Company in the mid-1970s, thinking he might become an actor. He produced posters for the troupe, printing about 20 or 30 of each.
Few have survived, even fewer in perfect condition and SIGNED BY THE ARTIST like this one.
In perfect condition.
This print comes from the collection of one of the earliest collectors of Kentridge's work, who recognized the artist's importance long before he became famous.
An (unsigned) impression of this poster is the only pre-1989 Kentridge print in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
