Very rare exhibition catalogue of the Sturm-Galerie, edited by Herwarth Walden. With a title vignette by Wassily Kandinsky.
From 1916 to 1918, the Sturmgalerie's catalogue "Ständige Kunstausstellung" was published with a different title and without a vignette. According to the Zentralinstitut für Kunstgeschichte München, there was a last edition in 1920. Unfortunately, it could not be verified due to a lack of references and illustrations. However, the title vignette used for the present edition can also be found on the title of the two catalogues "Sammlung Walden" from March and October 1919. The vignette is clearly by Kandinsky, since it bears the typical monogram "K in a triangle". It is doubtful whether the technique is a woodcut, as in the vignettes for the book "Über das Geistige in der Kunst" (Concerning the Spirituel in Art). In the present case, it is probably a relief etching after a drawing made especially for these catalogues. In any case, Roethel was not aware of this vignette.
