Mezzotint in colours, numbered and signed in pencil. Printed on thin chinese or japanese paper. Vertical creases and light handlingcreases.
The artistic vision of a landscape seen as a low horizontal composition on the background of a high "empty" sky had been introduced by Ilsted's brother-in-law Vilhelm Hammershøi.
Ilsted was born and grew up on the island of Falster and after settling in Copenhagen, he bought a summerhouse there. The interior of his summerhouse appears in many of his paintings and mezzotints, a.o the mezzotint " Two minor girls at a window".
A CATALOGUE RAISONNÉ on the graphic work by ILSTED is under preparation,
We are seeking information on both his etchings and mezzotints.
