Lithographic poster executed in 1961 for the exhibition of stained glass windows '' The twelve tribes of Israel '' at the Louvre Palace in Paris. This work is known as an ‘Interpretive’ lithograph engraved by Charles Sorlier under the guidance of Chagall. Sorlier became Chagall’s creative collaborator and master printmaker at the Mourlot printing studio in Paris. Together they developed different techniques and methods to get the results they wanted. They became good friends so much so that Sorlier was one of the last people to visit Chagall before his death in 1985.
