Created 1922, printed 1956; pencil signed and annotated epreuve d'artiste; printed by Mourlot on Arches Velin. In 1922 Chagall drew in a sketchbook with lithographic pencil and the book was closed and unopened. In 1956 the drawings were rediscovered by Chagall and, since the litho line was not totally dried, Mourlot printed them. They were able to print 10 images, each in an edition of 7 plus 2 artist's proofs. This is one of the artist's proofs of M. 29, “Bearded Man with Cap”.
